Kitchen Kapers, Coventry

Kitchen Kapers – established in 1992 – is a family-run catering company based in Coventry. They provide high-quality, reliable catering services for social and corporate functions in the West Midlands.

Kitchen Kapers approached Ormo Media in October 2010. They wanted a completely new website designed from scratch to replace their old website which had suffered from lack of maintenance. Ormo Media obliged with a new web presence, providing a series of in-depth features that were not available via the old site.

Design

The new design of the Kitchen Kapers website is modern and replaces the blocks of text that filled the old website with photographs of the company’s produce. This new design places emphasis on the products offered by Kitchen Kapers rather than on the history of the company itself, reflecting what is important to the consumer.

Professional website design

Navigation is prominent, with links to the menu-viewing page and other information dominating the site’s homepage. This makes the services available through the site immediately obvious to users.

Admin Panel

The admin panel that Ormo Media created for Kitchen Kapers provides the site administrator with a huge degree of control over ingredients, items, menus, orders and all of the information that needs to be regularly updated. It makes it very simple for administrators to add and edit menu items, discounts, special offers and news stories.

Within the admin panel is a facility that enables webmasters to receive alerts for a variety of scenarios. For example, the system that Ormo Media installed within the Kitchen Kapers website sends an alert to the administrator if a customer has created a customised menu, but hasn’t placed an order within a certain time period. Alerts are available for other events, such as new customers registering and new orders being placed.

This alerts system is perfect for Kitchen Kapers as it allows them to keep a track of their customers and the orders that they place. It also gives the administrators of Kitchen Kapers the ability to take action on a wide variety of situations, creating new business leads for the company.

Client Area

Kitchen Kapers’ new website has an area for clients (both new and returning) to manage menus and place orders. When customers access their account, they are able to either place an order for one of the set menus or customise a menu of their own. The customisation system for menus enables users to tweak a set menu to suit their needs or even produce their own completely from scratch.

This makes the customisation procedure very simple and allows Kitchen Kapers to easily cater to the specific needs of their individual customers. The ability to create custom menus is also useful for clients who may order the same customised menu every time as they can simply place another order using the menu that they created and saved.

This Client Area allows customers to complete a large amount of their business with Kitchen Kapers via the online presence, making the procedure easier both for them and for Kitchen Kapers.
